Good, cheap triband w/o activation?

Posted: 08-24-2003, 09:47 PM
Looking to buy a good but basic unlocked triband GSM phone for
occasional travel to Europe (will buy in-country SIM when I get
there). The sole criteria are reliability and RF/audio performance.
No need for the latest model with games, web access, bluetooth, etc.
I'm willing to consider used, as well. Is it possible to obtain such
a beast for less than US$100?

I already am on a T-Mo plan but haven't been with it long enough to
negotiate for another phone.

Motorola P280/T280 or Ericsson R520M. Both are in your budget range and
have excellent performance.

The t39m is great too, as long as you get its firmware updated.
gsm.virtualdynamix.com did mine, and it worked out great.

Hmm - sorry, but why triband if you use it only for travels to
Europe? Any dual-band 900/1800 GSM phone will do the job in
Europe just as fine.

Calls itself "ONEWORLDGIFT", has a logo that includes all landmass
on the planet -- but ships only to US and CA.

Quite a small world, indeed.

You're probably right, I thought the OP didn't specify that he had a
GSM phone.

I surely like that one!
