Who is happy with their cellular service?

Posted: 07-10-2003, 07:37 PM
I am in the wireless business and handle most of the nations top cellular
carriers. I also read the newsgroups for most of these carriers. One thing
everyone needs to keep in mind is that most of the people who sign up for a
wireless service are not happy with something about it by the time their
contract is up. It doesn't matter what company you go with, they all have
shortcomings... There's only one solution to this problem. Go to a location
that handles all of the providers that work in your location, and here's the
hard part... find an honest sales rep... Many sales reps will stear you
towards the one they make the most on, or the one that's the easiest to
activate and get you out of the way so they can deal with the next customer.
I don't do things that way, but most of the people I work with do... How do
you tell an honest rep from one with a smooth tongue? I don't know... I
would say to come to me, but if you don't live around here, I probably don't
know who works in your area and can only rely on unreliable coverage
maps.... It's almost a no win situation in todays market...

Usually Spam includes some link or effort to sell something... what was
Menards' point in posting if it was spam?

I like green eggs and spam.

Still scratching my head,

My service is great, now that I'm back on my beloved 3W AMPS bagphone
with the more serious antenna and transmitter. Even 50 miles at sea
with the bagphone on top of the sailboat's cockpit hardtop I have good
service, much to the amazement of the other sailors with
non-functional toyphones....(c; "Gee that sounds good", one said
coming up from Florida after talking to home.....40 miles offshore of
Charleston.

Verizon had a new display with a notebook on 1XRTT, or whatever that
queer system they're putting up next to obsolete all the 1 year old
equipments. By the time I got done showing the employees how to use
the internet, wowing them with BBC2 live audio or the Times Square
streaming webcam, I had quite a crowd. Too bad none of them know how
to operate it or how to use the internet. They might even SELL some
service!

Maybe I'll go see about commission sales. It was slower than WiFi and
only about 50Kbps, which makes unlimited service at $90 too expensive,
but there is a market for it if demo'd just right.

Sure took it a long time to download a 4MB MP3 file off my unloaded
FTP server....(c;

Cross posted to *7* cellular groups. I read it 3 or 4 times and could not
come up with any point to it other than self promotion of his business...
I suppose I could be wrong. Did you read anything else into it? I doubt
that he said all that to say "Most people are unhappy with their service
at the end of their contract".

How many times are we going to have to hear this story?

You know this is bullshit.

I really doubt that none of the employees in a VZW store didn't know how
to use the internet. Also what is so impressive about a webcam, were you
"wowed" by this?

Yeah I am sure you would make a killing as you know everything about
everything....

What did you expect? It is not sold as an alternative to cable DSL or a
t1 connection...MB

I have to say that i'm very happy with Cingular....minor billing
problems here and there but nothing big...i've been with them for over 8
years back when it was Bellsouth Mobility here in Louisiana....I tried
T-Mo, Verizon, and Sprint to try and get a better "deal" but the
Coverage was horrible and penetration into my home was impossible.
Cingular is the best for that. Haven't tried AT&T but a few of my
friends have just given me horror stories about them.

I'm on contract with both Sprint and Verizon. Wife loves her Sprint
phone, and we usually get about 600 minutes per month out of her
300-minute plan because most of her family uses Sprint and we have
unlimited PCS to PCS calling.

Sprint CS used to really suck, but they've gotten much, MUCH better.
For example, we just moved to California from Ohio and got a local
number here, and a computer screwup caused us to get shut off for a
couple hours - the billing system said we owed $25 for some reason.
Well, the rep we talked to not only got us turned back on promptly and
credited the (incorrect) $25 charge, and was very polite and
apologetic, she gave us a 60-minute credit for our inconvenience. All
without waiting on hold for a half-hour like we used to.

Verizon services the two phones I personally use (one for business, one
for personal use). They are very responsive, the coverage is good in
99% of the areas where I normally use my phones, and I never wait more
than 90-120 seconds before I get a live customer service rep on the
phone (if in fact I have to talk to a live person).

Neither carrier is perfect, but both work well for us...

Wirelessretailinc.com, in his email address. A very crafty spam.
Subversively "remind" people to think about their wireless carrier's
shortcomings, and that the honest employee at his company can help them
out...

If it hadn't been crossposted, I wouldn't be suspicious...
