Activesync using blue tooth

Posted: 03-22-2006, 07:41 PM
Hi,

I was recently forced to do a hard reset on my XDA II min as I was having
screen alignment issues. Previously I was successfully syncing my XDA with
my PC using Bluetooth.

I have successfully synced my XDA with my PC using the USB cable.
Now I am struggling to get my XDA to sync with my PC (Windows XP SP 2)
through Bluetooth.
I have right clicked on the blue tooth icon on my windows taskbar (PC) and
selected Advanced configuration.
Under the "Local services" tab I have noted that this is using COM port
COM6 under Bluetooth Serial port.
I have then checked that Activesync is using the same serial port, File,
connection settings, Allow serial cable...
On my XDA I then go to Start, Settings, Connections, Bluetooth.
The Turn on Bluetooth box is checked.
Under the devices tab, I tapped new, and it found my PC.
I selected my PC and tapped next, entered a passkey.
Selected Yes when asked the question "This Bluetooth device supports serial
port profile"
Accepted the default name for the device
Selected no when asked the question "Would you like to designate PC name as
a hands free device"
Opened Active Sync on XDA, Selected Connect via Bluetooth from the Tools
menu.
Nothing happens.

I have deleted the device from my XDA and deleted the device listed unde the
accessibility tab under Bluetooth and recreated them both. I have tried
rebooting My PC and XDA between all mayor steps.
I have tried setting Activesync to COM3, listed under the "Local services"
tab in the Bluetooth COM6 under Bluetooth Serial port in the Bluetooth
Advanced configuration dialog.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,

After months of trying I have found the solution.

Download and install Bluetooth tools from
http://www.bluetooth.jazztel.es/

I found after paring with my PC (before accepting the name) that the
bluetooth tools dialog did not display in front and I have to switch to it
using Start, Settings, Running programs and select "Bluetooth Tools" Then I
was able to select ActiveSync and it worked like a dream.

For some reason the reply did not remain attached to the original message,
so I have attached it for reference.
