Toyota Bluetooth Compatibility with Sony Ericsson K750i

SE T610 paired with my '04 Toyota Prius over Bluetooth.
It's now a different story since I upgraded to an SE K750i.
The K750i pairs OK but disconnects with no rhyme or reason
after anything between 30 secs and 20 mins. I'm doing the
same journeys with the mobile on my trouser belt and I get
different results each time. And I can't even re-pair/re-connect
the phone without stopping and re-starting my Prius.
Anyone else managed a foolproof Prius <-> K750i pairing?
If so, what's the trick!
