Headset for PC and Mobile-Phone at the same time

Posted: 01-12-2005, 10:18 AM
Hi,

yesterday I bought a bluetooth-dongle for my PC. The aim was to use my
bluetooth-headset as ordinary headphone for the PC, to listen in my car
to my Navigation-program running on the PC by a GPS.

On the other hand I used the Headset for my mobile-phone. Both works
individually now. However, I was wondering whether there is no way (Soft
or Hardware) to use both at the same time.

What I prefer is the way to listen to my PC-Sound. In case of a call I
can switch manually (e.g. by simple pressure a button on the headset to
my mobile and vice versa). Even more great of course would be a
automatic switch of the headset. Even both sounds parallel are fine already.

However, since I have 2 masters and 1 slave I guess this isn't working.
I tried to connect the headset to the PC with a headset profile and
simultaneously the mobile with a audio-gateway. I thought the mobile
transfer all voice to the PC and the PC transfer all to the headset.
I run in problems to connect both devices at the same time to my PC.

Would be happy if someone can help me out here.

Hardware:
Acer B-600 PC-Dongle
Nokia Headset HDW-3
Siemens mobile

Software:
Widcom 1.4.?.?

Best regards

Totti

Had the same question. The support FAQ page of SE (my headset is a SE
HBH-600) says:

"Kann das Bluetooth Headset HBH-15 gleichzeitig mit verschiedenen
anderen Geräten verbunden sein?

Nein, das Bluetooth Headset HBH-15 kann immer nur mit einem Gerät auf
einmal verbunden sein (Point-to-Point Kommunikation)!"

or in English:

"Can my Bluetooth Headset talk to several other devices at the same
time?
No, your Bluetooth Headset can only talk to one device at a time (a
point-to-point communication)."

I think this is not headset-, but bluetooth-specific.

No, this is purely caused by the will of the manufacturer to save every
last penny. In general Bluetooth has no problem to support multiple
pairings and even multiple connections, but of course this comes at the
cost of some additional complexity (e.g. you need more memory to store
the link keys, etc.).

I own a Bluetake i-PHONO BT420EX which can store 5 pairings. Also: When
listening to music through A2DP e.g. from my computer it is supposed to
still be able to accept a voice connection from a mobile through the
headset or handsfree profile (the music is muted during that time, of
course). I don't own a bluetooth equipped mobile, though, so I've never
actually tried that.
