OT: Stereo Hi-Fi Bluetooth Headphones ?

Posted: 06-09-2004, 06:26 PM
Just got myself a USB-Bluetooth dongle for the PC, to make
syncing/downloading with my phone a bit easier. And for this it works
fine.

However I was playing with connecting my SE HBH200 BT-headset to the PC
via the BT dongle, and sure enough I was able to get MP3s playing thru the
BT headset. But while it worked the results could NOT be described as
Hi-Hi (yes I know the HBH-200 was never intended for this use).

So I was wondering if there was any BT stereo headphones available, and if
they where any good ? I've presently got an infrared pair, while the audio
is good they only offer line-of-sight operation. I also tried an analogue
radio wireless pair in the past, but they left a lot to be desired.

I have read rumors that the next (or one after) iPod will feature
wireless headphones. Most likely using BT tech. Still just rumors
though...

Very interesting devices. I've contacted the companies to see if they
can answer this question and am waiting to hear back.

I want to capture audio at >8kHz over bluetooth. I'm working with some
people doing acoustic scene analysis, and we'd like to record high
quality audio from a headset that was convenient to wear all the time.

The advanced audio BT profile includes high quality audio, but it's
not clear if these headsets, or anything on the market, supports using
the microphone with that profile. Anybody know?

Thanks,

gopi.

I would not wait for this. It could be a long time.

I'd ask someone associated with the ALSA driver.

I'm hoping to try this soon.

In the Bluetake case, the recording option is only available when using the
handsfree or headset profiles, also available on the headset unit. The A2DP
profile is for playing Audio Out only.
