The signal won't make it from my beltclip to my ear... and this is the
second unit of each that I've tried. It works fine when the phone is in my
shirt pocket. Is this what I should expect from a BT earbud?

I have a Nokia 6310i phone and a BT200 unit and have tried difrent things
with it.
When I have the phone in my beltholder (MTU holder where the phone is
horisontal along the belt) on my right side and use the BT200 on my right
ear there are no problems, exept when the batteries weakens on the BT200....
But if I use the BT200 on my left ear, I have to have the phone also on my
left side of the body. It seems that the body stops the signal so the range
is only about 0.5m or less...
Same thing hapens if you sit beside a desk and using the laptop and have the
phone laying on the desk. You have to place the phone on the same side as
the earpiece otherwise the receptions is bad. When the line-of-sight is
clear, the range can be about 3-4m (until you move your body in between, and
the signal is lost...).
If I rise the phone vertikaly the reception range improves....

Both of you have faulty devices. Not obvious if it is headset or phone until
tried headset with other phones.

I have just tried my 6310i and HS-3W at home and have been able to roam
all over the house, upstairs and downstairs, and am still able to make
calls using voice dialling without losing the bluetooth connection. It
sounds as though you have faulty equipment.

From what I read here, and I am here daily, the Phone on one side of the
body and Headset on opposing ear very frequently causes issues. I have
Erisccon r520m and JABRA 250 and I get much better performance when on same
side of body. Also, as with most antennas on phones, they are Vertically
polarized, setyp to be in the up/down position, not sideways so that issues
is also normal. As to testing walking around your house, being that theres
not a body involved thats a different set of circumstances. I usually read
20-30 feet +/-
