Mini-PCI Bluetooth ?

Posted: 02-19-2004, 12:37 PM
Anyone know of a Mini PCI Bluetooth card to build into a laptop ( Asus
M6800N ) ?

I think HP made a Mini PCI Bluetooth / Wifi card but i believe it works
only with
HP Laptops.

I need it to sync with my SE T610

What about a Bluetooth pcmcia card or a USB dongle? Belkin makes both of
them.

I have read somewhere that a mini PCI RF card (bluetooth or WiFi) cannot be
supplied and fitted once the machine has left the factory in many countries.

This is to do with RF licensing.

You may want to check that the laws in your country do not cover this first.

Of course, how anybody would find out etc is another question.

Well, IBM sells its mini-pci a-b-g wifi adapter separately ($99, I think),
but I assume
they interface with the antenna built into the display of many ThinkPads.
The IBM
bluetooth module (at least for the T4x series) is integrated with the modem,
and again
must somehow connect to an antenna.

Your best bet might be a CardBus/PCMCIA card with little or no protrusion,
assuming
you've an available slot.
