BT / 802.11g ("Airport") combo laptop cards?

Posted: 02-17-2004, 01:27 PM
Hi,
I've done a search of the web and usenet and haven't really found an
answer.

I have a laptop, bluetooth phone, and "Airport Extreme" (802.11g)
network. None of these currently talk together.

Is there a card for the laptop that does bluetooth and 802.11g? I've
got the impression that bluetooth and 802.11b is available but nothing
more?

Any help is MUCH appreciated!!!

You mention Airport Extreme, so I guess you have an Apple laptop. The
D-Link USB Bluetoth adaptor will work on your laptop, you need OS X
10.3 though. This allows your laptop and phone to work via Bluetooth.

Actually we have an Airport Extreme base station, iMac with Extreme in
a room, and 2 windows wired laptops.

The laptop owner has a bluetooth phone now. So he needs a bluetooth
adaptor of some type, but I was hoping to do 802.11g AND bluetooth
with the same card (partially to save money, partially so there's less
chance of frequency conflict?).

I think I'll avoid USB adaptors so we can not have too many protruding
bits which can be broken. Thanks for the info though!
