Wouldn't it be nice if....

.....there was a PC application which could use Bluetooth to set up and dial
a voice call (phone book and virtual keypad, or even mapping of PC keyboard
numeric pad to phone keypad) then roll over to Audio Gateway for the call.

However I suspect that most phones (e.g. my Nokia 6310i) can only have one
BT connection at a time, which means if you are doing stuff to the phone via
e.g. the serial connection then even if you could detect ring tone and
switch to Audio Gateway you wouldn't be able to detect end of call, or use
the PC keyboard to hand up the call.

Really needs a control connection and an audio connection at the same time.

Are there any phone/software combinations which can do this kind of thing?

Cheers

I've never done this on a PC but I can use my Palm T3 to dial a number
using BT on my SE T68i phone which I use with a handsfree BT headset from
Plantronics. Same concept and seems to work really well.

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=153 or
https://sourceforge.net/projects/fma/

Float's Mobile Agent is a SMS, PhoneBook and Dialler program for Windows.
You can connect to a mobile phone via Bluetooth or serial connection and use
it from there...

Mauricio,

sounds a bit like the TDK Mobile program with a dialler added.

Will this work in conjunction with the audio gateway?

I may be getting confused over the capabilities of the Nokia 6310i, but I
thought it could only have one BT connection at a time - so for instance if
it had a BT headset connected you couldn't connect using the PC to do other
things to the phone at the same time such as SMS (or, with the right
program, dialling and stuff).

I was also assuming that (although the PC can support multiple connections)
the phone couldn't support an audio gateway and a.n.other (e.g.serial)
connection at the same time.

Prove me wrong (please).

TIA

Dave R

DAve, in short yes. The difference is that TDK Mobile is only free for TDK
users, or $. Float's is free.

It should work with a headset providing that the PC disconnects from the
phone as soon as the AT commands are sent. Then the phone is free for the
headset use. I haven't tested it this way

Not sure if this helps. My father bought a car with built in Bluetooth
handsfree... so next I helped him buy a bluetooth phone... now moving
on to the bluetooth card for his PC (just can't find one that also
does 802.11g!)

ANYWAY, The guidance display in the car has several ways of dialling.
It has it's own phone book - just touch the persons name and the phone
dials, and the handsfree system is activated. It also allows you to
use the touch screen to enter the number manually (if the car is
stopped).

So technologically, your wish is quite achievable. I have no idea if
computer software has been written to do it yet on Windows. Good luck!

I haven't tested Float's in this manner, but as I previously mentioned this
type of setup works just fine with my SE T68i, Palm T3 and Plantronics BT
headset. The Palm dials the T68i and disconnects the BT connection after
which the headset kicks in. It's all magic to me but what the heck, it
works! LOL

Mauricio thanks for the link, but it is showing an expired page. Could
you check on this?

I have the TDK software and its OK, but I cannot get many things to work
with my SE T608, like the dialer or Blue Mobile.
