I've just installed the Beta of Service Pack 2 for Windows XP
The support for bluetooth is greatly improved.
You can now set up virtual serial ports for incoming and outgoing
connections. You can transfer files using OBEX file transfer.
There is support of activesync with pocket pcs and networking with the
PAN profile.
It looks like MS is finally getting its act together and supporting
Bluetooth the way Apple has been for the past couple of years.
What I'd like to see is native support for Obex Sync with
Outlook/Express. But I guess we'll have to wait till Longhorn for
something like that.
I have a Tecom BT3030, which does not seem to be supported out of the
box at the moment. I got it going by editing "c:\windows\inf\bth.inf" to
include the line "Tecom USB Dongle= BthUsb, USB\VID_0A5C&PID_200F" in
the hardware definitions section.
