I've just been given said headset and set it up ok with my phone, but my
belkin b/tooth dongle is unable to detect it. the manual is about as helpful
as a swiss army knife minus it's attatchments!! any help appreciated.

The early Belkin dongles don't support the headset profile. Look at the
Belkin site to see which of their 'newer' model do.
