Anybody have any info on when / if Microsoft are going to support Buetooth
in the OS (as they do WiFi)?

Microsoft does currently support BT. The support is added by a set of
drivers only available when you buy the MS BT Keyboard or Mouse.

After installing the software (requires WinXP SP1) you'll have a Wireless
Link support (pretty much like IR, but with BT added functionality).

The problem is the limited availability and the lack of profile implemented
on this release.

Not sure if MS will enhance it...

To look at it another way, you could say that Microsoft supports Bluetooth
just as they did with Wireless in the beginning. That is the hardware
providers supply drivers for a given version of the operating system. In
Microsoft's case they support the hardware that they sell namely the
Keyboard and Mouse.

Microsoft does not support Wireless in the OS as much as they simply provide
drivers for wireless hardware. They could supply Bluetooth drivers as well
but I suspect that the issue may not lie with Microsoft. As we have seen,
the latest round of Widcomm drivers are now passkey protected for each and
every hardware vendor that uses them. Perhaps the issue is that Widcomm does
not want to provide drivers to Microsoft so that they can be included with
the OS distribution.

Cheers

Not sure this is a good idea..... For the technology to survive we need
support in the OS (like Pocket PC 2003).
