Downloading Widcomm stack and using it with MS BT Dongle

Posted: 08-31-2003, 07:36 PM
First of all, hello.

I just bought a Sony-Ericsson T610 and I tried to make it communicate
with my MS BT Dongle (the one that comes with the WLess BT Desktop), but it
failled. (All that I managed to do was to establish a RAS Connection)

After a long search on the net, I learnt that this problem was due to the
weekness of microsoft drivers for it's own dongle. (!!!!!!!)
A Few hours later, I learnt the existance of a stack from a mysterious band
called Widcomm. But I can't find a place where it could be downloaded appart
from specific brand drivers (TDK, 3Com....).

Does anyone knows :
- if the MS BT Dongle can work with these drivers,
- if the mouse and the keybord will also work
- where can I find these drivers/stack?

Thank you very much for saving my MS Desktop from being send to e-bay's
auctions... :-)))))

Widcomm is the supplier of the BT drivers for several vendors (TDK, D-Link,
Bluetake). The vendors modify these drivers to fit with their hardware as
well as determine which BT services to support.

The MS dongle will not provide the services you need for your T610. The MS
drivers support HID and some unique services, but not the serial port
profile required for you to connect your mobile with the pc.

Unfortunately, if you install a USB adapter like TDK or D-Link on this pc,
your keyboard and mouse won't work since the services they require are not
provided.

As someone commented, it's not bluetooth but the vendors that can't seem to
get their act together.

I would have to agree, bluetooth is excellent, it is just the drivers
that suck! Also the lack of documentation from companies such as
D-Link and Belkin, etc.
