Ethernet -> Bluetooth. Possible?

Posted: 08-29-2003, 04:41 PM
Is there any way to extend my LAN via bluetooth that doesn't require one of
the PCs being on? I can only find USB->BT adapters and what I really want
is to plug a BT adapter straight into my router.

Any devices out there that do that?

Yes it is possible, there are several Bluetooth acces points on the
market. But they do all seem to be unreasonably expensive.

http://www.expansys.us/d_bluetooth.asp

The cheapest one there is $199 and the most expensive is $961?
Is it worth that much to not have a computer running?

Actually I found this
http://www.bluetooth-devices.co.uk/p...roducts_id=110

A Belkin combined Bluetooth Access point and USB printer server.
Only £111.63

I'm actually interested in that.
I was thinking of getting a print server anyway.
I want to know if it supports the printing profile or just PAN and TCP/IP
printing.
